Join us for this Fall Sacred Seed Retreat ~ A Contemplative Journey into Creation beginning September 30. This soul-soothing retreat will help unearth guidance from nature so enable you to gently quiet everyday distractions and access deep spiritual tranquility. Dominican Center, in collaboration with Plainsong Farm, invites you to let your senses be revitalized by nature. Take part in an experience that will cultivate your ability to become silent and still, as you deeply listen and rest in God's presence.

While you nurture and attend your inner garden it is our hope that you discover solitude in nature as a meaningful spiritual practice. In silence, we learn to listen — to ourselves and to God. In silence, we come to know ourselves and the reality of our lives more deeply. Allow prayerful silence to seed sacred spiritual growth for your journey.

The Sacred Seed Retreat is a personal silent retreat and is offered as a blended experience (online and in-person).

 

PLANT (Session I): FRIDAY / SEPTEMBER 30 / 6:00-8:00 pm

The focus of this guided gathering is to explore new seeds of possibility to emerge in your heart and life. Using Scripture and prayerful prompts, cultivate space in both your interior and exterior home to enhance quiet reflection. During this first session, you will briefly meet with your Retreat Spiritual Director who will prayerfully accompany you on your journey. 

NURTURE IN NATURE (Session II):  SATURDAY / OCTOBER 1

(in-person at Plainsong Farm in Rockford - COVID-19 safety guidelines in place)

During this in-person session at Plainsong Farm, experience a self-guided prayer pilgrimage that's both interactive and in harmony with the earth. After you register for the retreat, Dominican Center will contact you to confirm your  time preference.

9:00 am to 11:00 am

HARVEST (Session III): SUNDAY / OCTOBER 2

(at Plainsong Farm)

The Sacred Seed Retreat experience concludes on Sunday with a sacred conversation with a Group Spiritual Director from 3:00-4:00 pm.

Mindy Hills

DMin Candidate, Dominican Associate, Dominican Center Apprentice, Spiritual Director, and Retreat Leader

Mindy Hills is a Dominican Associate and certified Spiritual Director who assists with retreat coordination and facilitation. With radiant hope she offers deep listening and gentle prompts to help others reflect on the spiritual dimensions of life and to notice the loving invitations of God’s presence within the ups and downs of their journey. Her faith-filled lived experiences support a belief in the gifts of retreat experiences that are designed to access the beauty of creation as a contemplative practice. As a prayerful companion she empowers others to release limiting beliefs and feelings of hopelessness to live consciously active and fulfilling lives. Her ministry embodies heart-centered spiritual care with a passion for helping others rediscover and restore their capacity for resiliency.

Emily Ulmer

Plainsong Farm Program Director

Emily Ulmer serves Plainsong Farm as program director. Emily is passionate about the intersection of liturgical formation and activism. She previously worked as a church worship coordinator and is a chapel steward at seminary. Before discerning a call to ministry Emily lived in Three Rivers, Michigan, as part of the culture is not optional community. She is an avid baker, podcast listener, and caretaker of indoor plants.

Before the Retreat

After you register for the retreat, you will receive an email from Dominican Center with a map to Plainsong Farm, information on what to expect, and forms that will need to be reviewed, signed, and returned to Dominican Center before the retreat begins.

Registration Fee and Cancellation Policy

The registration fee covers all three sessions. Refunds for cancellations cannot be made after September 23, 2022.
