Laura Oteto

Activist

Laura Oteto came to the United States with her family as refugees from Kenya when she was eleven years old.  Laura was introduced to the challenges unaccompanied immigrant children face when she worked as a family reunification case manager for a local non-profit. There she assisted children from Latin America, who were detained by U.S. Border Patrol, in locating and being reunited with their families. As a partner at the Center for Immigration Studies and Education, Laura is dedicated to promoting the humane and informed responses to immigration in the West Michigan community.
