This series of classes is for anyone desiring to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Dominican history and spirituality. This is a year-long, prayerful study of Dominican saints and historical and contemporary spirituality in the Dominican tradition. The Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola form a structure for encountering and loving God more deeply. This adaptation, the Ignatian Retreat in Life, feeds the hunger of our hearts with the Word of God through nine months of prayer and contemplation. Meditating with Scripture over the month’s time is then shared in a small group with a short teaching about Ignatius’s prayer methods and insights into the spiritual life. The price includes all 10 sessions.

If you are interested in yoga, but would like to begin gently, Chair Yoga is for you. In this class you will gently move your body using a chair to help you with flexibility, strength, and balance. Seated movements, standing/balancing poses, deep breathing and rest will be woven throughout. You will leave feeling refreshed and energized, yet calm and relaxed. An introduction to the first apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis: “a joy ever new, a joy which is shared.” This session will focus on the heart of the Gospel and the challenges of today’s world.

086-032 Advent and the Gospel of Mark Dec 03, 2014

No angels, no manger, no genealogy: what can Mark’s Gospel contribute to the Advent season? As we read the Gospel of Mark this year, what should we notice; what should we expect? We will consider Mark’s concerns, his writing style, his themes, his message. The oldest Gospel will reveal a portrait of Jesus and what it means to follow him. His Advent urgency should become ours.
